Tejanos taking action for cuture, tradition and music

Goals and actions described below reflect strategies formulated to produce favorable changes at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo ‚ÄúGO TEJANO DAY‚Äù. Concerned Houston Tejano citizens recently organized (under VIVE Tejano-Houston) to discuss strategic support from Tejano musicians, elected Officials and other mainstream music/entertainment organizations addressing miscalculation by Houston Rodeo officials on the No Tejano Music at “GO TEJANO DAY” issue.TEJANO GOALS SET FOR HOUSTON RODEO

1. Award greater number of scholarships to Tejanos/Hispanics (Largest group per capita)
2. Incorporate Tejano/Hispanic individual at the Executive Committee Level of governing group (equal representation)
3. Retain event title, as is “Go Tejano Day” while building greater awareness of Tejano music & culture
4. Expand role of “Go Tejano Committee” in the entertainment selection process
5. Pay parity for Tejano music artists
6. 6. Increase Hispanic themed days/events at the Houston Rodeo
